遅かれ早かれこの状況が訪れると予期していたものの、こんなに早いとは思っていなかったと。

「これがビジネスであると理解しているけどマイアミにいたい」

「ここは我が家なんだ」

「ここでキャリアを始めて娘はここで生まれた」

「行きたいと思える球団は一つもない」

「今はマーリンズのすることを見守るだけ」

お金持ちのチームにもらわれていきそうなカブレラ。
可愛そうです。

Coveted third baseman says he'd prefer to stay with Marlins

MIAMI -- When the Marlins made it clear at the General Managers Meetings last week that Miguel Cabrera was available for the right offer, the Venezuelan became front-page news in much of the baseball world.

Cabrera himself was not surprised.

"I knew that sooner or later this situation would present itself, but I never thought it would be this soon," the Marlins third baseman told LasMayores.com. "I understand that this is a business, although I would like to stay in Miami. This is my home; I started my career here and my daughter was born here."

The rumors have had Cabrera in many different uniforms -- Yankees, Angels, Tigers, Mets, White Sox and Dodgers, to name a few. But it's no secret that Cabrera would be coveted by all 30 Major League teams.

"There's really not one team in particular that I can say I'd like to go to; the only thing I can do is wait and see what the Marlins do," said Cabrera. "Whichever team I go to [even if it means staying put], I'll play my baseball and try to win. I try not to think about where I'll be playing."

"Of course I'd also like to go to a competitive team if I'm traded, because we all want to win. But again, I just have to wait and see what the Marlins do," said Cabrera as he prepared to travel to Venezuela on personal business.

「もちろんトレードされるなら競争力のあるチームへ行きたい。でも繰り返すが今はただマーリンズのすることを見守りたい」

とも言っているので、移籍したら頑張りそうですけどね。
できればヤンキースではなくエンゼルスかタイガースに行ってもらいたいなぁ。。。

今年のア・リーグのサイヤング賞はサバシアに決まりました。
おめでとう〜
メジャーリーグと言えばレッドソックスとヤンキースとマリナーズしか観れてない日本人にとっては納得いかないかもしれませんが、妥当な受賞と言えるでしょう。

投票はこのようになりました。

サバシア自身はフォアボールの少なさが一番のポイントだったのではないかと考えてるようですね。
確かにこの登板数でベケットより四球が少ないのは凄いと思います。

サバシアと言えば今年の半ば、わたくしが個人的な恨みから作った表を思い出します。

サバシアの投球数スゴイですよ。
フォアボールで球数が多くなったのとは違いますから。

あの労働量であの防御率。

報われて良かったと思います。

ベケットは大舞台での度胸のあり方はメジャーでトップではないかと思うのですが
ああいう投球を来年も年間通してDLに入らず投げきったら完璧ですね。

Sabathia takes home AL Cy Young

If there were any lingering debate about whether C.C. Sabathia has arrived among baseball's elite pitchers, his new Cy Young Award should end it.

All season long, Sabathia wasn't talking about individual awards, only team success. He didn't talk about his Cy Young chances during the season or the playoffs, not even when he matched up against 20-game winner Josh Beckett in the American League Championship Series.

"We weren't worried about individual stuff at that point," Sabathia said Tuesday. "We were worried about a championship."

This week was his chance to think about it. As it turned out, he really didn't have to worry.

　サイ・ヤング賞の投票は、全米野球記者協会（ＢＢＷＡＡ）の記者２８人によって行われた。サバシアは１位票（５点）を１９票、２位票（３点）を８票集めて１１９ポイントを獲得し、うれしい初選出。これに対し、今季メジャーで唯一２０勝をクリアしたボストン・レッドソックスのジョシュ・ベケット投手は、１位票が８票にとどまり、２位票が１４票、３位票が４票（１点）。８６ポイントで次点に終わった。

　インディアンスの投手が同賞に輝いたのは、１９７２年のゲイロード・ペリー以来３５年ぶり。また、アフリカ系アメリカ人の投手が、ア・リーグで同賞を獲得したのも、７１年のバイダ・ブルー（当時アスレチックス）以来の快挙となった。
